Default Jeweled Knobs Are Sticky?

i installed some jeweled knobs on my 98 and they look really super. however, the dual knobs stick pretty bad. like i cannot turn the upper part of the knob without the lower part also turning unless i manually hold one while turning the other. i have tried to space the two parts out but the knob shafts on the radio do not allow much. has anyone else run into this problem and were you able to correct it? need the info or the stock knobs are going back on the radio, lol.

I can tell you exactly why you guys are having that issue, over tightening the screws on the dual knobs. Take them back apart and look over the knobs well, and the shafts of the knobs and you will see what im talking about.

It depends, the actual shaft might be damaged. Take off the knobs and look at the shaft, you may see an outline from where a screw was overtightnened, essentually pressing both of the shafts together.

ok, i took the allen head screws out and yes i could see marks on the shafts where the screws were tightened down. however, the screws were only finger tight, so i don't see how they were pinching the shaft. i think since there was not enough room between the top of the bottom knob and the bottom of the top knob, it caused them to scrape and produce friction between the two. thus causing them to move in unison. i think if the radio shafts were a bit longer, the problem would disappear. regardless, i replaced them with the stock knobs and the jeweled knobs are for sale in the for sale thread. thanx guys.
